Where we work: Colombia

According to the World Bank (2022), Colombia is facing significant structural challenges, starting with the economic situation due to the high inflation that accentuates inequality in the country. Besides the high account deficit and the need for structural reform that facilitates adopting technology, innovation, and the diversification of its exports to face climate change. Colombia is also emphasizing achieving SDGs, especially regarding climate change, in which science-based policy formulation and implementation processes support its crucial.

In Colombia, the CGIAR Initiative on National Policies and Strategies will approach policy coherence with policy analysis across CGIAR Impact Areas, along with briefs or papers on food, land, and water policies and institutions. The Initiative will support the development of strong communities of policy practice dialoguing and contributing to the government on topics such as climate change and food security. The Initiative will also implement policy tools such as Social Accounting Matrices adapted for Colombia, strength capacity building training with hackathons, and facilitate processes on policy influence.
