National Policies and Strategies
Where we work: Ethiopia
Ethiopia’s rapid economic growth and reductions in poverty and ill-being have been dampened by significant global (COVID-19 pandemic, Ukraine war, …) and domestic (conflict, drought, …) shocks in recent years. Recovery and reconstruction that aligns well with sustainable growth and transformation thus constitute the central challenge facing the country in the coming few years. The challenge requires well-designed and targeted policies and initiatives to address structural bottlenecks, mitigate recurring shocks, and promote inclusive growth.
The CGIAR Initiative on National Policies and Strategies (NPS) aims to contribute to this effort by enhancing the capacity to design and implement coherent policies in the country. Working with national partners, NPS-Ethiopia supports the identification of investment priorities for recovery; studies the impact of conflict and subsequent recovery; contributes to policy dialogue via Rural Economic Development and Food Security Sector Working Group (REDFS-SWG) and the Network for Ethiopian Policy Analysis and Research in Agriculture and Food System (NET-PARAF).”
