The Commission on Science and Technology for Development (CSTD), a key subsidiary of the ECOSOC within the UN, serves as the central hub for integrating science, technology, and innovation (STI) into the development agenda, particularly in supporting the 2030 Agenda.

The Commission on Science and Technology for Development

As a forum, the CSTD facilitates strategic discussions, sharing of lessons and best practices, and provides insights into critical STI trends affecting the economy, environment, and society while focusing on emerging and disruptive technologies.

In its twenty-seventh session, the commission emphasizes two priority themes: “Data for Development” and “Global cooperation in science, technology, and innovation for development.” This session will also assess the advancements in the World Summit on the Information Society’s goals and feature policy review presentations in STI.
