Outcome Impact Case Reports

Our recent achievements are detailed in Outcome Impact Case Reports (OICRs). OICRs are short reports describing the contribution of CGIAR research to outcomes and impact.

In 2020, CGIAR reported 149 OICRs, similar to 2019. Fifty-two percent (77) documented changes in discourse or behavior, 36% (54) related to changes in policy or practice, and 12% (18) provided evidence of adoption or impact at scale.

OICRs were linked to 14 United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2020. Significantly, 61% related to SDG2 (zero hunger; 91 OICRs), and SDG13 (climate action) and 17 (partnerships for the goals) were each linked to 36% of OICRs (53 OICRs each).

Most OICRs also related to CGIAR’s three System Level Outcomes (SLOs). Twenty-eight percent (41) of total OICRs referred to poverty reduction (SLO1), 41% (61) to improved food and nutrition security (SLO2), and 25% (37) to improved natural resources and ecosystem services (SLO3).

In 2020, 45% of OICRs had principle or significant gender objectives, and 73% had capacity development as their principal or significant objective.
