Siboniso Moyo
Deputy Director General for Research, Partnerships and Impact at ILRI
Dr. Siboniso Moyo is the Deputy Director General for Research, Partnerships and Impact at the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI). With over 35 years of experience in livestock research and development in low and middle-income countries, Dr. Moyo previously served as the Director General’s Representative in Ethiopia (2014-2021), and as the Global Program Leader for Animal Science for Sustainable Productivity (2014–2017).
From 2006 to 2014, she served as ILRI’s Regional Representative for Southern Africa, coordinating regional research and development activities. Prior to joining ILRI, Dr Moyo was the National Director for Livestock Production and Development in Zimbabwe (2002–2005). She also served as a Mentor under the African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD) program from 2008 to 2010, contributing to the development of emerging African women scientists. She is the current chair of the AWARD Program Steering Committee.
Dr Moyo is an Animal Scientist by training, specializing in animal breeding and genetics. Her areas of expertise include breed performance evaluation, smallholder livestock production systems, livestock research and management and partnership management.
Outside her professional work, she enjoys reading book and participating in outdoor activities (eg, visiting national parks, gardens, and forests).
