Rodrigue Yossa

Director of the CGIAR Sustainable Animal and Aquatic Foods (SAAF) Program

Rodrigue Yossa is a scientist with over twenty years of experience in research for development and science leadership across Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America. He currently serves as the Director of the CGIAR Sustainable Animal and Aquatic Foods (SAAF) Science Program. 

Before assuming this role, Rodrigue was the Director of Aquatic Foods Biosciences at WorldFish, where he led a global team working across aquatic animal genetics, health, feeds and nutrition, and farming practices in Asia, Africa, and the Pacific. Prior to joining WorldFish in 2018, he served as the Scientific Director of Aquaculture at the Coastal Zones Research Institute Inc. (now Valores) in New Brunswick, Canada, where he led a team of aquaculture scientists and technicians in transforming Arctic charr aquaculture in the country. 

Rodrigue holds a Ph.D. in Animal Sciences from Université Laval (Canada), an M.Sc. in Aquaculture from Ghent University (Belgium), University Certificates in Biotechnology (Université Laval, Canada) and in Art and Philosophy (Ghent University, Belgium), and an Undergraduate Degree in Water, Forestry, and Wildlife Engineering from the University of Dschang (Cameroon). He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute (USA) and is fluent in Bafang, French, English, and Cameroonian Pidgin English. 

Outside of work, he has a strong interest in global travel, visiting farms in rural areas, and reading books across disciplines.
