Makram Geha

Director of the CGIAR Breeding for Tomorrow Program

Makram (Mak) Geha is the Director of the CGIAR Breeding for Tomorrow Program.

Mak began his career as a Quantitative Genetics Scientist at Dow AgroSciences in 2011 and went on to lead multiple teams at Corteva, focusing on genomic selection, predictive breeding, and breeding system optimization. He has played a key role in integrating analytical tools and algorithmic approaches across breeding pipelines, from early-stage development to field testing. In 2023, he was appointed Technology Strategy Lead for Seed Product Development, driving innovation and strategic partnerships across R&D. Mak holds a PhD in Quantitative Genetics and was named a Corteva Distinguished R&D Laureate in 2025 in recognition of his scientific and leadership contributions. His work has helped streamline decision-making across research functions and accelerate the development of improved crop varieties. Mak also served in leadership roles on cross-industry and academic collaborations, including chairing the Industry Advisory Board for the Center for Computational Biotechnology and Genomics in Medicine.
