Dr. Inge D. Brouwer is Director of the CGIAR Better Diets and Nutrition Program.

Dr. Bouwer is a leading expert in human nutrition and food systems, with more than 30 years of international experience in research, academic leadership, and project management. She holds a PhD in Human Nutrition from Wageningen University. Dr. Brouwer has held key roles with UNICEF-Ghana, Wageningen University and Research (where she is Professor Emeritus), and IFPRI (where she led a CGIAR A4NH flagship and the SHiFT initiative), and her research expertise spans diet quality, food environments, biofortification, agroecology, and dietary guidelines.

Her work focuses on food systems for healthier diets and she has supervised over 20 PhD students and contributed to major global programs, projects, and research across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Known for her visionary leadership and commitment to capacity sharing, she mentors early-career researchers and promotes South-South collaboration. A respected thought leader, she is a frequent contributor to global and national dialogues on diets, nutrition, and food systems.
