Charles Kleinermann
Leader, Capacity Sharing Accelerator
Charles is a senior international development professional with over 15 years of experience in capacity development, institutional strengthening, and program leadership across Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, Central Asia, and Asia. He joins the System Organization from the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) in Rabat, Morocco, where he has served for more than 13 years as Research Team Leader – Capacity Development.
Throughout his career, Charles has led and contributed to complex, multi‑country initiatives aimed at strengthening organizational performance and human capital in the agricultural research and development sector. His experience includes long‑term assignments in Egypt and Jordan, supporting regional capacity development strategies and partnerships.
Charles has also played an active role within the CGIAR system. He served as an elected member of the CGIAR Community of Practice on Capacity Development (2014–2017) and as a capacity development expert with the CGIAR Capacity Sharing for Development (CapSha4Dev) task force (2022–2024). In addition, he currently serves on the Board of the Borlaug Training Foundation.
His role as Leader, Capacity Sharing Accelerator will start on 1 May 2026
