Position: Research Associate

Duration: 6 months’ renewable                                             Location: Liberia

Closing Date: 10 July 2025

DUTIES:

  • Provide technical support on implementation research activities related to soil fertility and agronomic practices in Liberia.
  • Assist in the coordination of project activities of the Regional hub for fertilizer and soil health in West Africa and the Sahel.
  • Document research progress of the nutrient omission trials to bet set in three counties in Liberia.
  • Assist in the day-to-day management of the activities of the regional hub.
  • Assist in providing step by step QA/QC checks of trial data.
  • Guide and guard the national partners towards a full understanding and the implementation of the agronomic protocols and data collection tools.
  • Assist and work with teams in activities implementation (field identification, seed sourcing, trials setting and trials implementation, data collection, data analysis and in drafting trial reports).
  • Provide regular updates on progress with activities.
  • Analyze and write up research results, and work with project teams to publish in various formats (reports, blogs, journal publications etc.).
  • Take responsibility for assuring the correctness of ODKs and barcoding.
  • Perform any other duty as may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Requirements

QUALIFICATION:                        

Master's degree in Soil Science, Agronomy, Agriculture, or Environmental Science or related field with a minimum of four (4) years’ experience performing similar role in a well-structured environment.

COMPETENCIES:

The ideal candidate must:

  • Have strong understanding of soil science, agronomy, and agricultural principles.
  • Have experience in conducting research, data collection using digital tools such as collect, and analysis.
  • Have experience in managing agronomic trials or field experiments
  • Be proficient in the use of the MS Office suite
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to prepare research reports, papers, and presentations.
  • Be able to work effectively with researchers, farmers, and other stakeholders.
  • Have ability to prioritize tasks, manage time, and meet deadlines.
  • Have prior evidence of research publications or presentations in peer-reviewed journals or conferences would be an added advantage.
