Indonesian farmers to adopt informed and improved farming with LKP2.0 launch

(JAKARTA, Indonesia, 9 October) – Layanan Konsultasi Padi (LKP) version 2.0 was officially launched on 9 October 2023 by the Director General of the Indonesian Agriculture Instrument Standardization in Jakarta, Indonesia. An esteemed group of partners, including government officials, the private sector, donors, and NGOs, attended the event.
The Director General of the Indonesian Agriculture Instrument Standardization, Prof. Dr. Ir. Fadjry Djufry, M.Si., expressed his support and enthusiasm, saying “Hopefully, the latest version of LKP will be able to answer our rice farmers’ needs. LKP 2.0 can be used as a complementary tool to support them with specific advisories. I hope the collaboration between these various parties will achieve more to help farmers. I will be in every step of the way with you.”
LKP version 2.0 is an innovative agricultural web application developed by the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) to help rice farmers maximize yields and profit with personalized and actionable fertilizer management guidelines. This upgraded version of the LKP application will include an improved user interface, accessibility to field-level information, and an optimized questionnaire for the generation of field-specific crop management advice.
Dr. Sheetal Sharma, Senior Soil Scientist, IRRI and the RCM Indonesia Project Lead, expressed her excitement at the launch of the LKP Version 2.0 as she shared, “We are delighted to launch the better and improved version of the LKP for rice farmers in Indonesia and hope that the app proves to be helpful for the farmers.” Farmers can use LKP to access site-specific nutrient management information. Site-specific nutrient management is a three-pronged approach to increasing yield, managing expenses on fertilizer usage, and maintaining the biodiversity and fertility of the soil all at the same time.
