The Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa launched its 2020 Africa Agriculture Status Report in September 2020. The report focuses on the challenges of feeding Africa’s cities and the opportunities for smallholder farmers and agribusinesses to meet the needs of the continent’s fast growing urban food markets.
In a chapter on food safety and public health in urban food markets in Africa, co-authored by scientists from the International Livestock Research Institute, the authors call for African governments to take urgent action to prioritize food safety towards the attainment national and global development goals.
