A new study by ICRISAT scientists in Mali has found that ‘contour bunding’, technique helps retain moisture and nutrients, prevents soil erosion and brings as much as 20% increase in net income. Conducted between 2014 and 2016, the research also looked at land use data between 1986 and 2014 to show impact of Soil and Water Conservationpractices. This work was supported by the WLE and Africa RISING program in Mali with financial support from IWMI and USAID through IITA.
