Central African Republic cassava value chain receives support from IITA-TAAT Cassava Compact
IITA and the PADECAS project organized capacity-building workshops in Central African Republic from 18 to 25 August to improve smallholder farmers’ sustainable access to quality improved cassava seeds in the country. They conducted the training in the nation’s Boda and Boali districts.
IITA experts Fotso Kuate Apollin and Lienou Jules Apollinaire conducted the workshops with 72 cassava seed multipliers participating in both locations. They trained the participants on cassava production, cassava variety identification using agromorphological characteristics, and pests and diseases identification and management. PADECAS field supervisors facilitated translation into the local language—Sango.
