
Dr. Nicoline de Haan is Director of the CGIAR Gender Equality and Inclusion Accelerator.
Dr. de Haan has more than 20 years of experience in agriculture and international development. Her work has focused on gender, rural livelihoods, livestock, and natural resource management. Most recently, she led efforts within the CGIAR to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment through both the GENDER Impact Platform and the Gender Equality Initiative. Dr. de Haan began her career in Nigeria as a Dutch Junior Professional Officer with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture, where she researched the adoption of agricultural technologies. She previously held roles at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in Rome — leading the global socio-economic team on animal health — and the International Water Management Institute, where she investigated the impacts of inequitable access to natural resources and developed strategies for more inclusive benefit-sharing. More recently, she led the gender team at the International Livestock Research Institute.
