Purpose of the roster
ICARDA is building a roster for professional photographers and/or videographers to engage for various opportunities as they arise. We invite experienced professionals to apply for inclusion in this roster, which will be used to select suitable candidates for assignments related to documenting ICARDA’s activities. Contractors will provide digital photographs and/or video for production of human-interest stories, social media materials, campaign publications, and website content, etc. The work will be home-based with travel required for field missions as needed.

The International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) is a treaty-based international non-profit research organization supported by CGIAR.

Main responsibilities
- Collaborate with ICARDA’s Communications and Project Staff to develop project briefs and costings, and plan and execute 1-5 day trips to capture digital images and/or videos.
- Work with a provided 'shopping list' of required images and videos, including deliverables and performance indicators.
- Conduct video interviews as needed.
- Perform post-production editing of images and videos.
- Provide written stories to accompany the visual materials, if needed.
- Deliver a set of images in both RAW and edited/enhanced JPG formats.
- Provide RAW video footage, preferably in short clips, with possible edited video content to be discussed.
- Include basic background information on subjects featured in images/videos (e.g., names, ages, locations, and descriptions).
- Ensure all photo and video materials (raw and edited) are delivered on agreed mediums (e.g., external drives).
- All copyright for photo and video materials produced will be retained by ICARDA.
Requirements
Objectives and Key Deliverables
- Demonstrate expertise through a portfolio showcasing high-quality photographic and/or video work relevant to humanitarian and development contexts.
- Leverage a minimum of eight years' experience in conducting documentation trips, particularly in the humanitarian or development sector.
- Efficiently manage all necessary permissions for capturing images and videos on location, ensuring compliance with local regulations and ethical standards.
- Utilize own professional-grade photographic/video equipment and editing software, with the inclusion of drone equipment being an advantage.
- Offer competitive daily rates that cover equipment and provide discounted package rates for longer assignments, with clear post-production pricing based on project length.
- Coordinate travel to ICARDA offices in target countries independently, while ICARDA will handle domestic travel costs. Ensure readiness for field missions with self-provided travel arrangements.
- Possess the legal right to work in the target countries and manage insurance for both equipment and personal health independently.

Terms and conditions
- Applications will be reviewed and assessed based on experience and qualifications. Successful candidates will be included in the national consultant roster.
- Qualified applicants may be contacted for further interviews or assessments to confirm their availability for assignments.
- Assignments will range from 1 to 20 days. The roster validity is for a period of 24 months from the date on which applicants are notified of their successful enlistment on the roster.
