IFPRI’s country offices promote impact, everywhere An international presence supports stronger local outcomes
IFPRI’s five decades of experience has shown that development policy research has a stronger likelihood of making an impact and meeting real-world needs when it is adapted to local contexts and created with national and local partners. The best bet for generating context-specific research is operating within beneficiary countries and communities. Building on this evidence, the new IFPRI Strategy 2026-2030 deepens an institutional commitment to decentralization.

IFPRI’s five decades of experience has shown that development policy research has a stronger likelihood of making an
impact and meeting real-world needs when it is adapted to local contexts and created with national and local
partners. The best bet for generating context-specific research is operating within beneficiary countries and
communities. Building on this evidence, the new IFPRI Strategy 2026-2030 deepens an institutional commitment to
decentralization.
The Institute’s decentralization aims, though now more explicit, have been decades in the making. For the past 20
years, IFPRI has deliberately expanded its international presence through a dynamic network of country offices.
Around the world, IFPRI produces scholarship, informs policies, and shares capacity through on-the-ground
collaboration with local implementing organizations, research institutes, and policymakers.
