At a pivotal side event titled “Strengthening CGIAR Engagement with African Agricultural Research, Innovation, and Education Institutions (AARIEIs) in research and scaling,” a new chapter in Africa’s agricultural transformation was officially launched with the presentation of the CGIAR-AARIEIs partnership engagement framework.

The framework, co-developed by Africa-based CGIAR centers and the African Agricultural Research, Innovation & Education Institutions (AARIEIs), is a strategic document that outlines the principles, priorities, and mechanisms for enhanced collaboration. It aims to strengthen institutional partnerships, foster knowledge exchange, and promote joint innovations addressing the continent’s pressing challenges, ranging from climate change and food insecurity to the need for sustainable food, land, and water development systems.

The event’s highlight was the signing of the partnership engagement framework agreement by representatives of CGIAR centers and AARIEIs. This formal commitment underscores a shared vision to accelerate the implementation of Africa’s science agenda for agriculture by aligning research and innovation efforts with the continent’s development goals.
