India’s digital news outlet, The Ken, published a news feature on the impact of German pharma-chemical company, Bayer, buying American agro-chemical and seeds company, Monsanto, on India’s domestic agricultural companies. The news article quotes IFPRI’s Senior Research Fellow, David Spielman, who advises constant monitoring to assess the effect of consolidation in the industry on input prices farmers pay.
