The 2nd Annual Montreal Climate Security Summit will be held online on November 1-2, 2023.

The Montreal Climate Security Summit is an annual international meeting at the intersection of the security and environmental sectors. It addresses climate change as not only an ecological emergency but as an international security threat and risk multiplier. The purpose of the summit is to foster collective and immediate action on climate change and develop pathways to ensure human security in the coming years.

The event will explore the following sub-themes: energy security, greening defence, displacement/migration, critical minerals, clean energy transition, Indigenous outlooks, the militarization of the climate crisis, and the NATO Climate Change and Security Action Plan. Additionally, it emphasizes youth engagement, inviting students and young professionals to partake in intergenerational dialogues.

The event prioritizes sustainability by being held online, reducing its carbon footprint.

Dr. Aditi Mukherji, Director of the Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Impact Action Platform of CGIAR, will be one of the speakers at the summit.

More details on CGIAR participation will be available soon.
