1st Meeting of the Independent Science for Development Council (ISDC)

In partnership with the Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research (EIAR), the first meeting of the new Independent Science for Development Council (ISDC) will provide a platform to explore ISDC’s role within One CGIAR, receive the latest updates from the CGIAR System Organization, and engage in reflections on the CGIAR Quality of Research for Development Framework. The meeting will showcase the ISDC foresight syntheses that commenced in 2020. The goal of the agenda is to translate ISDC activities to inform the 2030 Research Agenda. The foresight findings—focused on CGIAR’s five impact areas of nutrition, poverty, gender, climate, and environment— will be presented by leading scholars. The presentations and discussions will spark follow-up analysis on trade-offs. Other activities include multiple networking opportunities, an International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) hosted reception, and poster presentations featuring CGIAR and partners’ work in Ethiopia.
