The Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT have formalized a strategic collaboration with Bayer’s Crop Science division under the Modern Breeding Project to accelerate the development of improved crop varieties, strengthen resilient seed systems, and expand the reach of innovation to smallholder farmers across regions and crops.

Ibadan, Nigeria | April 2026: Nigeria has approved the release of SAMNUT 30 (ICGV 206228), a high-performing groundnut variety developed by ICRISAT, marking an important step toward enhancing productivity and resilience and food and nutrition security among smallholder farmers.
The International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), in partnership with the Government of Odisha, ICAR–Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture (ICAR-CRIDA), and the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), jointly organised the State-level Inception Workshop of the Odisha Agriculture Drought Mitigation Programme (OADMP) in Bhubaneswar on 30 January 2026.
