The Global Food and Water Security Project
Scars of War, Seeds of Hope

The Global Food and Water Security (GFWS) Project is a pioneering international initiative addressing the environmental and human health consequences of armed conflict. This interdisciplinary and intergenerational effort aims to protect the most vulnerable, particularly women and children, by tackling the deep connections between farming, food, fertilizer, water, and geopolitics.

Conflict leaves lasting scars on land and water, causing contamination that can affect generations. GFWS works to transform these challenges into action by generating insights that inform policy, guide humanitarian response, and support sustainable recovery. Through research, education, and collaboration, the project empowers students and scientists, many from conflict-affected regions themselves, to create real-world solutions that restore both ecosystems and lives.

About The Campaign

WebsEdge is a global knowledge-driven media company connecting the world’s sharpest minds with international audiences.

CGIAR has partnered with WebsEdge, to launch the With Science We Can Campaign – a multiplatform documentary project set to premiere at COP30 in Belém, Brazil on the 12th of November

The campaign centers on a 25-minute documentary showcasing how CGIAR and its partners research and develop science-driven solutions to build climate-resilient food systems, reduce poverty, and safeguard the planet while helping lift millions out of hunger and poverty.

Complementing the film are five thought-leadership films spotlighting visionary external innovators – start-ups, policy think-tanks, and grassroots cooperatives – turning research into real-world impact that is reshaping the future of agriculture.
