At Stockholm Food Forum 2025, a side event will spotlight how regenerative agriculture, and agroecology can reshape food systems to deliver for both people and the planet. By restoring soil health, enhancing biodiversity, and reducing emissions, these approaches go beyond sustainability and aim to strengthen rural livelihoods and make diverse, nutrient-rich foods more accessible and affordable.
The session will bring together voices from science, farming, and the private sector to explore practical pathways for scaling regenerative practices. Discussions will focus on challenges, trade-offs, and opportunities, as well as how to ensure that farmers, women, and youth benefit from these transitions.
Jef Leroy, Senior Research Fellow at IFPRI and Area of Work Lead for the Better Diets and Nutrition Science Program, will bring the nutrition lens to the discussion. He will explore two critical questions: What defines a healthy diet, what is often lacking, and what would regenerative agriculture need to provide to help fill these gaps? And equally important, what needs to be considered when deciding on using regenerative ag vs. (or in combination with) other solutions that can improve the healthiness of diets
Join us on October 3, 2025, for the side event “Scaling Regenerative Agriculture and Agroecology for Climate Resilience, Nutrition, and Food System Transformation.” Together, we will explore how evidence can be turned into action to shift food systems from uniform, industrial models to more diverse and regenerative ones securing healthier diets and a more resilient future for all.
