CGIAR’s NATURE+ Initiative’s work package MANAGE initiative demonstrated impactful results through 2024 by integrating research and community collaboration to promote nature-positive agriculture. Operating in five countries—Burkina Faso, Colombia, India, Kenya, and Vietnam—MANAGE emphasizes sustainable practices to conserve agrobiodiversity, restore landscapes, and enhance food security through innovative technologies, local engagement and construction of agrobiodiversity-based value chains.
Among many other highlights, In Kenya, NATURE+ MANAGE supported aggregated farms established by communities who united fragmented land parcels into large, nature-positive farms. These farms serve as hubs for research, education, and community empowerment, showcasing sustainable practices like organic recycling and native tree restoration. Additionally, MANAGE projects focus on empowering women by training them in food processing and value addition for neglected and underutilized crops.
Looking ahead, MANAGE will expand its initiatives under the CGIAR Research Portfolio 2025-2030. By leveraging research and technological innovation, the program aims to scale sustainable solutions, strengthen food systems, and address climate challenges across the Global South.
