“Today’s meeting is a crucial event to identify policy research topics to support NAFRI’s role to improve agricultural and forestry production, contributing to agricultural commercialization and food value chain expansion,” said Dr. Chanthakhone Boualaphanh, Director General of National Agriculture and Forestry Research Institute (NAFRI) at the first policy research planning workshop under Policy Think Tank (PTT) in Laos.

The workshop is part of the Community of Policy Practice (CoPP) efforts, focusing on food, land, and water domains under CGIAR Initiative on National Policy and Strategies (NPS).
All 13 NAFRI research centers are at the event to present their plan and policy research needs for PTT and develop their research agenda. Other participants include other departments within the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, different ministries, and development partners. These participants had pre-bilateral consultations with the PTT team to discuss the subject further.
The event’s input will be used to develop NAFRI’s upcoming five-year strategy, 2026- 2030.
