CGIAR is pleased to announce that current System Board member, Patrick Caron, has been appointed Vice Chair of the CGIAR System Board. In this newly created role, Patrick Caron will work in close collaboration with the Board Chair to promote adherence to best practice governance standards for the Board and its operations; and to perform high-level outreach to governments, international institutions, advanced research institutes, private sector and civil society to advance the purpose of the CGIAR System, among others.

Professor Lindiwe Majele Sibanda, CGIAR System Board Chair, said, “One of the top priorities I communicated when I became Chair was to ensure an optimally effective System Board. I am delighted that Patrick Caron, himself a highly respected global scientist, has been confirmed as Vice Chair of the Board to help me champion effective delivery of our core business, and that which makes CGIAR truly unique – science and partnership – both internally and externally.”

Patrick Caron said, “I am very pleased to continue working with Lindiwe and my fellow Board members in this new capacity, and excited to add a new dimension to my ongoing contribution to CGIAR’s mission of transforming food, land and water systems in a climate crisis.”
