Leading research portal, Research.com, publishes annual rankings in multiple fields of science, including plant science and agronomy. The platform recently released the ranking of best scientists in 2022, with four IITA–CGIAR scientists appearing on the list.
IITA Interim Director General Bernard Vanlauwe, Plant Pathologist Ranajit Bandyopadhyay, Maize Breeder Abebe Menkir, and DG Emeritus Nteranya Sanginga were all listed on the latest ranking based on metrics acquired in December 2022. They ranked 255, 914, 1907, and 2662 respectively (https://research.com/university/plant-science-and-agronomy/international-institute-of-tropical-agriculture).
Research.com’s list of leading scientists is based on a detailed analysis of 166,880 scholars determined from various bibliometric data sources. For the area of Plant Science and Agronomy, over 5065 scientists were analyzed. Position in the ranking is established on multiple criteria, including publications and citation metrics for an examined discipline.
