In a few weeks, ISDC and invited speakers will hit the road and travel to Nairobi, Kenya to hold its annual Science Forum as a side event during CGIAR’s first Science Week from 1-5 July.

Since 2021, ISDC has focused on inclusive innovation and what that means to CGIAR. The work started with a brief that led to a literature review, which inspired a Science Forum series on inclusive innovation and a special issue in Agricultural Systems. The 2024 Science Forum will serve as a launch event for this special issue with four corresponding and/or lead authors presenting research related to CGIAR.

Through an open proposal call for abstracts that generated 67 proposals, the guest editors invited 28 proposals to submit full manuscripts with 12 papers online, two in production, and three currently in review. This special issue explores institutional culture, regulatory, and governance dimensions of inclusive innovation in public and private agrifood research organizations. All papers that did not qualify for complimentary open access will receive open access financial support from ISDC.

Speakers at the Science Forum represent a diverse group of CGIAR scientists and affiliates presenting. Additionally, two early-career scientists are the first and corresponding authors. Below is the agenda. Register for Science Week today to view the Science Forum online on 4 July. The full agenda is below.
