Assessing returns to research investments in rice varietal development: Evidence from the Philippines and Bangladesh
Over the past three decades, the Philippines and Bangladesh have made huge investments in the development of improved rice varieties. The economic returns to these investments in rice research were significant.
In this study, published recently in the peer-reviewed journal Global Food Security, researchers suggest that IRRI and national partners should continue investing in rice R&D, especially to develop superior rice varieties.
