The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has had major consequences for the world’s food system and food security. At this breakfast seminar organised by SLU Future Food and SLU Global, they will discuss how the pandemic’s most severe effects on food systems can be reduced and how we should build resilient food systems that provide food security for all.

Join our Research Program Leader for Value Chains and Nutrition, member of the Committee on World Food Security’s High Level Panel of Experts (CFS-HLPE) and an Honorary Doctor at SLU, Shakuntala Thilsted, as she will be presenting the main conclusions in a new The United Nations CFS-HLPE Issues Paper “Impacts of COVID-19 on food security and nutrition: developing effective policy responses to address the hunger and malnutrition pandemic” ongoing pandemic crises and its present and predicted effect on the world food system.

The purpose of the report is to provide insights in addressing the food and nutrition security implications of the COVID-19 pandemic and to inform the preparations for the 2021 UN Food Systems Summit. This will be further reflected upon by Kajsa Johansson, Senior adviser at We Effect and Sofia Boqvist, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Biomedical Science and Veterinary Public Health; Division of Bacteriology and Food Safety at SLU.
