Thematic Area: Future Frontiers

This session introduces participants to true pricing, true price transparency, and true price calculation methods.

The true price entails the market price plus the social and environmental costs of a product. Creating transparency of the true price of a product enables value chain actors to structurally decrease social and environmental damage in the value chain. The objective of true pricing is not to make products more expensive, but to make them more sustainable.

Expert speakers in this session will take you along in how social and environmental costs are calculated and monetized, in an interactive way. To illustrate the impact potential of true price calculations, the results of concrete cases will be presented. The session will additionally zoom in on Netherlands Food Partnership’s work with CGIAR/ILRI Ethiopia and True Price Foundation to formulate recommendations for Ethiopia’s National Food System Pathway for a number of food value chains, based on the true price methodology.

Join us to learn about the science behind true pricing and discover its power as a roadmap for healthy, affordable and sustainable food for all.
