In this Independent Dialogue event hosted by the Government of Nigeria, in collaboration with the Global Panel on Agriculture and Food Systems for Nutrition (GLOPAN) and WorldFish, leading experts from food system organizations worldwide came together to discuss challenges faced in realizing the potential of aquatic food systems. The panel identified policy recommendations that would leverage aquatic food systems’ capacity to contribute to Nigeria’s food systems future and in the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Organized around four thematic areas and focus and breakout groups on different aspects of Nigeria’s aquatic food systems across the Summit’s 5 Action Tracks, WorldFish’s Research Program Officer-in-Charge for Research Prohram in Nigeria’s, Sunil Siriwardena, provided the special remarks. This was followed by a research presentation by WorldFish’s Technical Lead, Rohana Subasinghe, on ‘Fish in Nigerian Lives: As we see it,’ based on the results of two years of scoping work done that will set the scene for the dialogue.
