Global hunger is on the rise, reversing decades of progress. More than two billion people now lack year-round access to adequate food.  Climate change, extreme weather events, conflicts and economic downturns are some of the factors driving growing food insecurity. So what is being done to reverse this decline and what else is needed?

In this virtual discussion hosted by the BBC Global News, food system experts and the team behind the Global Food Security Index will examine the biggest challenges facing the world food system. Together, they will explore findings and ten-year trends on global hunger and food insecurity in regions around the world with poor and vulnerable communities.

WorldFish’s Global Lead for Nutrition and Public Health Shakuntala Thilsted will join the Asian Region panel discussion to discuss aquatic food systems research to policy solutions that are working and what else is needed to address issues in food and nutrition security and global issues of food and nutrition.
