About the event

The Committee on World Food Security (CFS) is the foremost inclusive international and intergovernmental platform for all stakeholders to work together to ensure food security and nutrition for all. The Committee reports to the UN General Assembly through the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and to the FAO Conference.

This CFS High-Level Special Event will have three plenary sessions, one per day:

  1. Day 1 | Taking stock of the global food security situation guided by the SOFI 2020 report and the HLPE report on Building a Global Narrative towards 2030;
  2. Day 2 | Reflecting on the impacts of COVID-19 on global food security and nutrition and efforts needed to “build back better”; and,
  3. Day 3 | Discussing the draft CFS Voluntary Guidelines on Food Systems and Nutrition and the draft CFS Policy Recommendations on Agroecological and Other Innovative Approaches, and considering their relevance to the objectives of the UN Food Systems Summit.
