Private Sector Committee (PSC) Work Plan

PSC Home || PSC Members || PSC Workplan || PSC Meetings || Support to PSC

The PSC work plan will focus on three main activities:

  •   Research Productivity

The issue of how to maximize productivity in research is of great interest to both the private sector and the CGIAR. However, there are some clear differences and similarities on how private sector research managers and CGIAR research managers handle the challenges of ensuring increased efficiency and effectiveness of research. The PSC is planning a research productivity workshop where private sector managers and senior research managers from CGIAR Centers would exchange ideas and identify specific mechanisms and tools to enhance research productivity.

  • Scientific Know-how and Exchange Program (SKEP)

The SKEP initiative seeks to promote technology and knowledge transfer between scientists working in the private sector and CGIAR Centers. SKEP had a successful start in 2006 with an exchange between Bayer CropScience and IFPRI. The CGIAR Centers and the PSC plan to reinvigorate SKEP in 2007 with a thorough assessment of demand for exchanges on the part of the CGIAR Centers.

  • High Level Dialogue

The PSC would continue facilitating high level dialogue between corporate CEOs and the CGIAR through another round of discussions focusing on strategic issues and identifying potential areas of strengthening partnerships. The first CGIAR-PSC high-level workshop took place in 2005 where a number of ideas on and strategies for strengthening CGIAR-PS partnerships were identified.
