Pakistan

Pakistan became a member of the CGIAR in 1997, though five CGIAR Centers had been collaborating with Pakistan since the late 1980s. The CGIAR's International Water Management Institute (IWMI) has maintained a Program Office in Pakistan since 1986. The country was the site of some of the most dramatic developments of the Green Revolution in the mid- to late-1960s, and the hope of extending these productivity gains to other areas in the developing world was in large measure the impetus leading to the establishment of the CGIAR in 1971. Pakistan's official support to the CGIAR is provided through the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock.
