International Fund for Agricultural Development

The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) joined the CGIAR in 1979, and later became instrumental in extending the CGIAR agenda to explicitly address rural poverty, as well as in establishing the Global Forum for Agricultural Research (GFAR) in 1996. IFAD is now one of the Group's four co-sponsors and is represented by its Technical Department.
