Elise Perset
General Counsel
Elise Perset joined the CGIAR in September 2010, bringing with her many years of experience as a Franco-American lawyer. A member of the New York Bar and the Paris Bar, Elise is a practitioner of both common law and civil law.
A specialist in intellectual property and contract law, Elise has experience working both in law firms and in national agricultural research institutes. Prior to joining the CGIAR, Elise was legal counsel for contracts and intellectual property for six years at the Centre de Coopération Internationale en Recherche Agronomique pour le Développement (CIRAD).
Elise has worked in corporate and commercial law, technology transfer, partnership support, intellectual property, and genetic resources and policy development.
Since she joined the CGIAR, Elise has been closely involved in the strategic aspects of the CGIAR reform, overseeing all legal aspects on behalf of the CGIAR Consortium and leading the development of policies on the management of intellectual assets in the new CGIAR. Elise is also currently a lecturer in intellectual property and contract law at the Law School of the University of Montpellier, France.
