Manuel Lantin
Science Adviser
Manuel Lantin has served as a science advisor to the CGIAR since he joined the World Bank in 1996, first in the former CGIAR Secretariat and currently in the CGIAR Fund Office.
Manuel supports the Chair and Executive Secretary of the Fund Council on matters related to the CGIAR Research Programs. He liaises with the Independent Science and Partnership Council, and supports the establishment of the Independent Evaluation Arrangement. Manuel also helps organize Fund Council meetings and facilitates Council business.
Before joining the World Bank, Manuel was part of the management team in charge of research and training in the Philippines Department of Agriculture. He represented the Philippines in the CGIAR.
Manuel started his career at the University of the Philippines, Los Banos, where he was head of the Agronomy Department and deputy director of the Institute of Plant Breeding. He earned a PhD in plant breeding and genetics from Iowa State University, and an MSc in plant breeding and a BSc in agriculture from the University of the Philippines, Los Banos.
