SPC
Economic Farm Models
This site is maintained by the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) an inter-governmental organisation with twenty-two Pacific Island members. Available downloads of economic models for aquaculture and agriculture commodities is one of their goal, which is to promote economically, socially and environmentally sustainable aquaculture development among communities

FAO
FAO - Informal Expert Networks
The informal expert network has finally started to produce some interesting interactions between technical specialists. Please visit the network exchange page, set up to provide a forum to share experiences, skills and knowledge in facilitating the full recovery of tsunami-affected zones.

FishBase: A Global Information System on Fishes
FishBase is a global information system to share data and information about fishes. FishBase is a relational database with information to cater to different professionals such as research scientists, fisheries managers, zoologists and many more. FishBase on the web contains practically all fish species known to science. FishBase was developed at the WorldFish Center in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and many other partners, and with support from the European Commission (EC).

FAO
Fisheries Global Information System (FIGIS)
FIGIS was conceived in a context of great stress on most major fishery resources and a worldwide concern about the state of the resources and some of their non-sustainable uses. For yet under-utilised stocks, the risk of over-utilization is amplified by globalisation of trade in fish and fishery products. When the 1995 Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries was approved as a basis for policies aimed at sustainable fisheries, a major need for reliable, high-quality and relevant information on the state of world fisheries was identified. FIGIS - the fisheries global information system - was established to address this need. With the adoption by the Committee on Fisheries of the Strategy for Improving Information on Status and Trends of Capture Fisheries (SSTF) on 28 February 2003, FIGIS becomes one of the privileged tools for its implementation.

IWMI
IWMI Tools and Concepts
IWMI's tools for water resources management have been developed and validated through IWMI research done over the past six years. They are designed to help water and food security planners improve their understanding of water resources. These tools provide useful data, methods and practices useful to various types of water planners. We encourage their use by water managers and food security planners in developing countries, the development and agricultural research community, implementing agencies and NGOs, and donor agencies. Tools provided here are: 1.Low-cost, Remote Sensing Tools for Water Management; 2.The World Water & Climate Atlas; 3.Water Accounting for Integrated Water Management; 4.Comparative indicators for irrigation system performance; and 5.PODIUMSim-The updated Policy Dialogue Model: A water and food security planning tool.

LarvalBase
LarvalBase is a new online database to provide key information on fish larvae. Most general tables (e.g. nomenclature, distribution, reproduction) are shared with FishBase. LarvalBase is maintained at the Institute of Marine Science in Kiel, Germany, in collaboration with the FishBase team and with support from BMZ/GTZ. Partners are wanted to join in and help to create an authoritative information system eventually including all known fish larvae of the world.

Onefish
OneFish
An Internet portal, a gateway on the Internet which provides access to hierarchically organised groups of information for fisheries and aquatic research which is being implemented by The Support unit for International Fisheries and Aquatic Research (SIFAR).

WorldFish Center
ReefBase: A Global Information System on Coral Reefs
ReefBase gathers available knowledge about coral reefs into one information repository. It is intended to facilitate analyses and monitoring of coral reef health and the quality of life of reef-dependent people, and to support informed decisions about coral reef use and management. ReefBase is the official database of the Global Coral Reef Monitoring Network (GCRMN), as well as the International Coral Reef Action Network (ICRAN). The ReefBase Project is housed at the WorldFish Center in Penang, Malaysia, with funding through ICRAN from the United Nations Foundation (UNF)

IRRI
Tsunamis and Rice
IRRI is responding to requests received from Malaysia and Sri Lanka for seeds of saline-tolerant rice varieties suitable for growing in tsunami-affected areas. IRRI scientists have also begun identifying rice production problems in countries hit by the tsunami (Bangladesh, India, and Indonesia). This is a tsunami-website is providing up-to-date information on rice production in the affected areas. Specific Tsunamis and Rice Tool either available in Tamil and Singhalese, and Bahasa Indonesia

UN
United Nations Atlas of the Oceans
The UN Atlas of the Oceans is an Internet portal providing information relevant to the sustainable development of the oceans. It is designed for policy-makers who need to become familiar with ocean issues and for scientists, students and resource managers who need access to databases and approaches to sustainability. The UN Atlas can also provide the ocean industry and stakeholders with pertinent information on ocean matters.
