The Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and
Fisheries of Morocco is honored to host the fifth CGIAR Annual
General Meeting. As the third millennium dawns, humanity is in need
of a new Green Revolution to overcome the enormous challenges of
food security, environmental protection and poverty alleviation. We
look forward to a meeting that fosters new partnerships between
CGIAR Centers, national and international scientists, civil society
and the private sector.

The CGIAR Annual General Meeting 2005
(AGM05) brought together the world's leading food and
environmental scientists and civil society to strengthen and expand
partnerships that stimulate economic growth in Africa, Asia, and
Latin America. Through dialogue and the sharing of experiences,
over 1,000 participants explored how agricultural research, science
and technology, and food policy initiatives could better improve
the lives and livelihoods of poor people, and launched new
initiatives that will bring the benefits of modern science quicker
and faster to poor farmers.
