Welcome to our photo gallery on cassava. We are pleased to share with you these ten images illustrating the CGIAR's work on cassava around the world.

Cassava is produced mainly by small farmers, who are often women heads of households, who generally use traditional farming methods, and live in some of the poorest and most difficult areas of the tropics. The crop offers these farmers several major advantages. It is relatively tolerant of poor soils and seasonal drought and has an unrivaled ability to recover from damage by pests and diseases. In addition, it can be safely left in the ground for 7 months to 2 years after planting and then harvested as needed.
