BRR - Events Callendar of A Month of Commemoration
Activities throughout December 2005 will recognize the personal loss and perseverance of these affected communities – culminating in an international memorial service in Aceh on December 26. For those who visit Indonesia, this website provides a schedule of commemoration activities. For overseas friends and supporters, we offer updated information on the progress of rebuilding, as well as transcripts and images from commemoration events. The Government of Indonesia and its international partners will report on the scope and pace of combined rehabilitation and reconstruction initiatives, providing critical direction for action moving forward in 2006. The review also provides important lessons for large-scale disaster reconstruction efforts in Pakistan and around the world.

Post Tsunami Livelihoods & INRM in Aceh: Almost a Year of Recovery from Shock
Date: 22 December 2005 >>> Location: World Agroforestry Centre - SEA Regional Office, Bogor, Indonesia >>> The meeting will seek to acknowledge the diverse conditions of the pre-tsunami landscape and livelihood strategies in Aceh and to provide an opportunity to reflect on progress and issues in the current phase of post-Tsunami rehabilitation along Aceh’s west coast. Later, the discussion will address how rehabilitation efforts at farm level can become better prepared for the coming changes in infrastructure, identify issues that require additional research and knowledge sharing. Start up working group on Livelihoods and Natural Resource Management along Aceh's West Coast: Agroforestry, Coastal Protection Forest and Forest Management.
Date: 29 November - 2 December 2005 >>> Location: Hotel Mouligou, Meulaboh, Aceh, Indonesia. >>> BAPPENAS master plan for Aceh’s post-tsunami rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts based on a holistic, comprehensive and integrated analysis. However, at local level, the transfer from planning to action is still slow, while perceptions of what is possible are gradually evolving. Various international bodies and organization have been working together with local governments and/or NGO to support rehabilitation efforts aiming at normalizing the people’s livelihood. Inline with the main goals, in support for the site level’s rehabilitation and coordination efforts led by UNDP, there is a need to have a more targeted working group to face livelihoods and INRM related activities. A four days multi-stakeholders meeting and discussion will be held at Meulaboh, facilitating the need. World Agroforestry Centre

International Conference Innovations and Technologies in Oceanography for Sustainable Development
Date: September 26-29, 2005 >>> Location: Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia >>> ITOS 2005 will address the specific issue of how new innovations and technologies in marine science and oceanography can help play an important role in the sustainable development of a nation. The conference will focus on poverty alleviation amongst low-income coastal communities; advances and new approaches in marine biotechnology in the search for new uses of living marine resources, the socio-economic policy structures that support the marine biotechnology industry; the policy and legal issues relating to the shipping industry and maritime security, and environmental problems such as transboundary pollution and invasive species caused by shipping activities. Other areas of focus include marine biodiversity conservation; metocean studies; and advances in fisheries and aquaculture technologies and management. The Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission
National workshop on Tsunami Rehabilitation
Date: September 23-25, 2005 >>> Location: National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra - India >>> From Asia to Africa, the December tsunami killed at least 160 000 people, and scoured shorelines of buildings and other structures. Among the hardest hit were those who made their living from the sea. For millions of fishermen and their families, the Indian Ocean was the source of their food and livelihood. Restoration of livelihood of the tsunami victims is on the front line of rescue operations continuing in the affected areas. Shelter, water, food, and medical relief continue to be priorities of the people in the tsunami-affected areas, which have been addressed on a warlike basis. AMC
ACEH BANGKIT 2005: Development program Exhibition
Date: September 9-18, 2005 >>> Location: Safiatudin Park, Banda Aceh >>> Nine months after tsunami, the peoples of Nangroe Aceh Darusaalam (NAD) have reached various stages in rebuilding their province. This was all can be done because of huge amount of support from many sides, Indonesian government and international world, donor, NGOs, private sectors and all residents of Indonesia and world. To give a more realistic and greater picture about what has and will be done, the Government of NAD has started to initiate an exhibition called: Development Exhibition "Aceh Bangkit" (Aceh Arise). A ten days exhibition presenting activities, included exhibitions, seminars, business meetings and various cultures shows. BRR
Workshop on Water-Sanitation and Building Engineering
Date: September 14-15, 2005 >>> Location: Conference room of Banda Aceh Museum >>> Many local and international organizations are currently working on Water Supply Systems and Buildings in Aceh Province, and therefore the exchange of knowledge and experience between different organizations could give a great advantage. In this perspective Merlin is carrying out a four-week training on topics related to water-sanitation engineering, and building engineering, and is willing to organize a two-day workshop on the same topics. The main aim of the initiative is to create the occasion for open discussion between the different organizations involved in water and building projects. Furthermore this could be the occasion to discuss the achievement of attainable performance standards and capacity building programmes.
International Workshop on Livestock Innovations for the Tsunami Affected Areas Rehabilitation and Reconstruction

Juanda, Bogor - Indonesia >>> Indonesian Center for Animal Research and Development (ICARD) is planning to hold a workshop on Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Program for Aceh aftermath tsunami at September 14, 2005. Topics related to introduction program for livestock sub sector will be discussed during the workshop, along with the technology availability and other technical aspects.
