Partnerships and knowledge sharing are key to the success of CIP’s project ‘Rooting Out Hunger in Malawi with orange-fleshed sweetpotato (OFSP)’.

For the past half century, potato production has grown slowly in the Andean region of South America, where the potato originated and has long been a major staple food. The exception is Peru, where potato production has surged in recent years.

CIP received a FONTAGRO award last week for its project titled “Innovation to Value the Biodiversity of Native Potatoes: The Case of Papa Andina/INCOPA in Peru”.
