Global Festival Japan at Tokyo’s Hibiya Park, September 30 to October 1, 2006
Over 65,000 people attended this year’s Global Festival Japan, held at Tokyo’s Hibiya Park, with the theme “Food: from a Development Perspective.” The annual festival, organized by the Japan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Japan International Cooperation Agency, aimed to gain more public understanding and support for development cooperation, especially Japanese Official Development Assistance and the UN Millennium Development Goals.
About 200 governmental and non-governmental organizations working on development introduced their activities, providing the Japanese public, particularly young Japanese and students, an excellent opportunity to learn about international development cooperation including the CGIAR.
The CGIAR booth, staffed by five Japan-CGIAR Fellows, highlighted the Japan-CGIAR partnership and the Japan-CGIAR Fellowship Program, with posters and publications on the work of the CGIAR Centers.
