CGIAR Booth at FARA Annual General Assembly June 2007, Johannesburg, South Africa
Staff from the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) managed a CGIAR booth at the African Science Week exposition during the Annual General Assembly of the Forum for Agricultural Research (FARA). The fourth FARA General Assembly took took place in Sandton from 10 – 16 June 2007. The meeting closed with a number of key resolutions for advancing agricultural research in Africa.
The meetings were attended by more than 670 delegates, including 10 ministers and deputy ministers from throughout the continent, as well as Africa’s development partners and non-African collaborating institutions. The CGIAR booth displayed a variety of publications from most CGIAR Centers and a series of posters focusing on CGIAR work in Africa. Visitors to the CGIAR booth included the South African Minister for Agriculture and Land Affairs, the Honorable Lulu Xinwana, and the Ugandan Minister for Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, the Honorable Hilary Onek.
