A landmark event in the continuing reform of CGIAR was hosted in Montpellier, June 17-28, 2013. It represented one of the first opportunities to viewing the CGIAR Research Program portfolio as a whole, with representatives from all the Programs outlining details of their work and plans for moving towards setting up targets and gauging impacts.
CGIAR adopted a Strategic Results Framework in 2011 that defined its four system-level outcomes: reducing rural poverty, increasing food security, improving nutrition and health and the sustainable management of natural resources. The ongoing process of shaping development outcomes guiding CGIAR research work and tracking progress in delivering results are well under way. “Back in 2012, I made the development of a “performance management system” for the CGIAR Consortium a top priority. Now, a year later, I can report that we have taken some big strides in that direction,” said Frank Rijsberman, CEO of the CGIAR Consortium.
CRP leaders, along with donors and external stakeholders are meeting to listen, engage, learn and progress on how to achieve the outcomes of reducing rural poverty, increasing food security, improving nutrition and health and the sustainable management of natural resources.
