Update on CGIAR Challenge Programs

CGIAR Challenge Programs (CPs), an important element of ongoing reforms, are off to an excellent start. Three CPs are in the pilot phase, and a new CP developed by the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA) and focused on jumpstarting agricultural development in Sub-Saharan Africa has just been approved. While the chart tracks the positive investment trends, CPs are playing an instrumental role in opening up the CGIAR system to new partnerships and attracting support-intellectual, technical and financial-which bodes well for the system.
