Ruben Echeverria, Director General of CIAT was representing the CGIAR in the meeting of Ministers of Agriculture of the Americas. The meeting, held on 20 October was hosted by IICA in Costa Rica.
Dr Echeverria presented the Strategy and Results Framework, the new CGIAR System Level Outcomes and gave an overview of the CGIAR Research Programs. Special attention was paid to the relevance of the CGIAR research in Latin America. He went on to show the long lasting linkages and cooperation between IICA and the CGIAR.

“This is the right time to join forces and work to promote agricultural innovation in Latin America. The CGIAR, together with its partners in the region and around the world, is eager to complement the initiatives of IICA for the development of the region. We need a strong and continuous support at the highest political level, and for this we rely on you!”
